Interview with Head of Procurement Ksenia Khushkina

We’re continuing our interview series! It’s interesting even for us, because it gives us a chance to get to know our colleagues better. Along with questions about logistics and the company, we also decided to include some more personal ones.

So today, we’ll find out how Ksenia got into logistics, what her favorite hobby is, take a look at the beautiful results of her creativity, and learn what she considers her superpower. Let’s go!
Hi, Ksenia! Thank you for taking the time to talk with us! We know you have a great deal of experience and a wide range of interests. Are you ready to share your achievements with us and take us into the world of your impressions?

Hi! I’m always happy to share something new!

Great! Tell us about your journey into logistics. What attracted you to this field?

I’ve been working in logistics for a year and a half, and it all started with Alfa Cargo Airlines. It was like love at first sight! What attracted me was the fast pace, the constant search for solutions, communication with people, and overcoming all kinds of challenges. It’s definitely not a routine job — every day feels like a new quest.

  • Alfa Cargo will always have a special place in our hearts! :) And what does logistics mean to you personally? Is it just a job, or something more?
For me, logistics is much more than just a job — it is a constant challenge and an opportunity to keep improving. It is a complex system where you have to take countless factors into account: deadlines, routes, interaction with clients, suppliers, carriers, brokers, and, of course, customs. It is like putting together a huge puzzle where every single piece matters.
  • Interesting! Why did you choose logistics in particular? What attracted you to this field the most?
What I love about logistics is the lack of routine. It involves constant analysis, risk forecasting, and finding the best possible solutions. Every day is different, and that is incredibly motivating! You have to pay close attention to details, react quickly to changes, stay flexible, and think strategically. It is like playing chess — only in real time and with high stakes.
Your professional journey is fascinating, but tell us a little about yourself outside of work. What was your first job, and what did it teach you?
One of my first jobs was working as a camp counselor at a summer camp. It was an incredibly valuable experience! Working with children means constant activity, a huge amount of responsibility, and plenty of unexpected situations. It taught me to make decisions quickly, find the right approach to different people, manage my time effectively, and, most importantly, work as part of a team and under pressure. These skills have turned out to be extremely useful in logistics as well.

What do you like most about working at Alfa Cargo?
First and foremost, our team! It is a group of like-minded people who are always ready to support one another and overcome any challenges together. We are like one big family.

I agree, we have an amazing team! Describe our company in two words.
Innovative and dynamic.
  • And now, let’s talk about your interests. Tell us about your hobby.
My hobby is oil painting. For me, it’s a way to relax, immerse myself in a different world, and focus on something beautiful and creative. It’s a wonderful contrast to the fast pace of my work.
  • Wow, you have so many fascinating hobbies! How do you usually spend your evenings after work? How do you recharge?
I try to spend my evenings creatively. Painting, doing puzzles, and cooking all help me recharge and take my mind off work. It’s important to find a balance between work and rest.
What is your favorite book, and what are you reading now?

My favorite book is “The Art of Loving” by Erich Fromm. Right now, I’m reading “Radical Forgiveness” by Colin Tipping — a very relevant book for our times.

Wonderful! What is your favorite quote, and what does it mean to you?

“Strength is not about what you can do, but about what you can overcome.” This quote reflects my approach to life. True strength is not about avoiding difficulties, but about being able to overcome them, learn from them, and become stronger.

  • That’s a wonderful quote! What is your unique strength? What do you think you are best at?
My superpower is the ability to stay calm and clear-headed in difficult situations. It helps me solve problems effectively and make well-balanced decisions.
  • Inner calm really is a key to success! What skill would you like to develop?
I would love to learn how to play the drums! It’s a great way to relieve stress and build endurance.
  • Sounds exciting! What would you like to do this year that you’ve never tried before?
This year, I’m planning to learn how to ride a motorcycle! It’s a new challenge, and I’m sure it will be an incredible experience.
Risky, but definitely exciting! What is your favorite dessert?

Walnut-shaped cookies filled with dulce de leche — they taste like childhood and pure enjoyment!

Tell us about your most recent happy weekend. What was it like?

My last weekend was a real balm for the soul! My friends and I had a creative evening together. We enjoyed delicious food, laughed a lot, and simply enjoyed each other’s company.
Moments like that remind you that true happiness is not always about big events, but about warm, heartfelt gatherings and creating something together. It was incredibly cozy and joyful.

Wonderful! And now for the very last, very important question… answer honestly! Cats or dogs?

Oh, that’s a tough one! Honestly, I love both cats and dogs. They are so different, and every breed has its own unique character.
But to be honest, my love for animals goes far beyond cats and dogs. I adore birds — their singing, their grace… Even frogs make me smile! So overall, I’m definitely on the side of all things living and fluffy.

Ksenia, thank you for taking the time to talk with us and for sharing such an interesting story! Wishing you the best of luck with all your new adventures!

Thank you so much! It was incredibly interesting.
