2.5 Tons of Cargo from the USA

Today we’d like to share a case involving a shipment from the United States.
This time, the challenge was not that the cargo was subject to restrictions — it wasn’t. The difficulty was that it was split into two separate batches located far away from each other. By the time the second batch was ready for shipment, the deadline was already getting tight.
The first part of the cargo was stored in New Jersey. It had been ready quite early, so we sent it there for storage at favorable rates.
The second part became ready much later and was located in Los Angeles.
And the key question immediately was: which option would be the most cost-effective?
- Consolidate the cargo at a transit point
- Move the first batch back to the second one and depart from Los Angeles
- Or, on the contrary, transport the second batch to New Jersey and depart from there
- Or perhaps send both batches to a city somewhere in between and fly from there?
We had to calculate all the options quickly and arrange the departure without delay.
In the end, the decision was made to move the cargo from New Jersey back to Los Angeles and ship the entire consignment from there.
And that domestic transfer alone took 7 days.
The main arrival deadline was May 20. The first booking we were offered was for May 18, which, of course, did not work for us.
However, we managed to negotiate a rebooking for May 12, and the cargo arrived in Moscow on May 20.
That means the air freight from the USA, including transit in Turkey, took just 4 days! That is an excellent transit time ☺️
One of the challenges of shipments from the USA is always the major time-zone difference, which means you need to stay fully involved both in the morning and in the evening.
But we managed it 💪🏼
